Entertainment: County Fair Display, 29 Sep 1881, Decatur, Macon , IL, USA. 962 "Two Costly Outfits" [subheading]
"Messrs. Radcliff and Bullard, the first-class undertakers and embalmers, on the West side of the old square, made a fine display of their elegant hearses and horses in the speed ring at the fair grounds on Thursday afternoon, which was witnessed by several thousand people. The fine pair of blacks drew the black hearse and the snow-white horses, that wore new gold-mounted harness manufactured to order by J.G. Starr & Son for R.B., drew the costly white hearse, which is used for the burial of children. Another black hearse owned by the firm would have been shown, but suitable horses could not be obtained for it. The band played appropriate music as the hearses passed along in front of the amphitheatre. The parade was made in order to let the city and country people know that Radcliff and Bullard are well supplied with every needful facility for conducting their business in first-class style."
