Last named spelled "Haggarty" on his tombstone. Also at its base are the words, "A child reposes underneath the sod, a child to memory dear and dear to God." These words are part of a poem from Annals of the Poor by British Anglican rector Legh Richmond.
Noted events in his life were:
• Residence, 1 Jun 1880, Ellen Street, Oswego, Oswego, NY. 25 Living here were James "Hagerty" wife Minnie, daughter Ursula, sons Herbert and John. (James must be listed as Herbert, I'm guessing this is his middle name and maybe he went by Herbert. John must be Thomas John.) But listed as borders are William and "Margh" Shannon. William is listed as the same age as Minnie. Could that have been a twin brother of hers? Margh must have been her sister.
