Julius Woods was born in Buckhorn Twp in Brown County. He was a lifeling member of the Buckhorn Baptist church, taking a leading part in all activities of the church. He was one of 14 children.

Amanda Reeves Woods was born near Griggsville in Pike county. As a young lady her family moved to Brown county near Buckhorn. She was a memeber of the Buckhorn Baptist church, always taking part in all the activities of the church, even though it meant walking several miles to and from the church each time. Amanda was one of 5 children.

On June 20 1869, in the office of W.C.Perry- then Brown county clerk, a marriage license was obtained, and later in the day, Julius Woods and Amanda Reeves were married in the home of the justice of the Peace Bartholemeus Boylen. Most of their married life was spent in the Buckhorn vicinity. Later in life they bought a farm on Pittsfield road several miles south of Mt Sterling where they spent their remaining years.
