• Obituary: Oswego Daily Times, 13 Oct 1906. 339 Mrs. Shannon was born in Wolcott, N.Y., Nov. 17, 1825. In 1848 she married William E. Shannon and came to Oswego in 1857. They had two children who died while young. Mr. Shannon died in 1888. The loss of husband and children, adverse circumstances and a feeble constitution, made life seem hard and rather embittered her disposition; she could see little worth living for and often expressed the wish to exchange this life for the one beyond, during the last year of her life she suffered terribly but was patient, uncomplaining, both to ask aid from anyone and cared for herself as long as a strong will and strength remained. She accepted fully the precepts of the Christian religion and tried to live in accordance with her faith. She entered the "Home" April 24, 1895 and died Nov. 9, 1905, aged 80 years, having been an inmate 11 years."
