bullet  General Notes:

In order to determine what year her family broke with the Catholic church, I've examined all the First Communion records for All Saints and found none for this family, although I see some for first cousins.

bullet  Noted events in her life were:

Alt. Name: "Teresa Elizabeth" Moroney, 9 Sep 1900, All Saints Church, Cook County. 132 She was baptised Teresa Elizabeth. Must have been named after her father's sister, Theresa (b. 1876).
All Saints (Chicago: Wallace St.)

Alt. Name: Theresa Alice. 92 Belle Radcliffe has something with the name Theresa Alice on it. I'm thinking it was the wedding invitation to Lou Pijon. Her middle name is listed as Alice on the birth cert of her son, Clarence. Her maiden name is listed on the same document as Morooney.

Baptism: All Saints Parish (Chicago: Wallace St.), 9 Sep 1900, Chicago, Cook , IL, USA. 132 Father: Michael Moroney. Mother: "Lizzie White" (My guess is that the priest translated Bilek to White) Sponsors: Jos. Hammes and Teresa Moroney (an aunt. Wife to Michael's brother). Priest: T. Smith
Note -- Joseph Hammes lived at the same place as Michael & Elizabeth Moroney when Tessie was born. He was 34 years old at the time, living w/ his parents and sister. He was a shoe salesman. At the time, there were 19 living at this residence.
Theresa's name is spelled "Teresa" in this record.

Residence, 12 Apr 1902, 411 26th St., Chicago, Cook, IL. 92

Residence, 13 Apr 1908, 2918 Emerald Ave., Chicago, Cook, IL. 92 This address was listed on brother Harold's birth cert. The person who filled out Harold's birth cert certainly couldn't spell with a darn. She spelled Harold "Harld", Emerald Ave. is "Emarald", so did she get this house number correct? I'm not sure. The census for 1910 has them living nearby so this could be wrong.

Residence, 20 Apr 1910, 2915 Emerald Ave., Chicago, Cook, IL. 13 Living here were Michael Moroney, wife Elizabeth, John Viskocil (Elizabeth's son by her first marriage), Tessie, Clarabelle, Helen, Harold, and some other families by the name of Vesely, Williams, McGre??ra, and Fitzmorris.

Residence, 1920, 3920 W. Wallace, Chicago, Cook, IL. 14 Living here were Elizabeth Moroney (head), her son John, daughters Tessie, Claribelle, Helen, and son Harold and son-in-law Clarence Nettleton. They were renting.

Occupation: Telephone operator, 1920, Chicago, Cook , IL, USA. 14 It's interesting that she was a telephone operator because the Theresa Moroney who was her aunt was also a telephone operator twenty years earlier -- source: 1900 census. Perhaps this indicates a family connection with the Moroneys at this late date.

Residence, 19 Apr 1930, 8114 S. LaSalle St., Chicago, Cook, IL. 3 They owned this house, and lived there with their son, Clarence.
Value of the home, $10,000. Values of surrounding properties were less, like in the $6,500 range. They owned a radio.

Occupation: listed as not employed, 19 Apr 1930, Chicago, Cook , IL, USA. 3

Residence, Apr 1939, LaSalle St., 141 ft. s. of 81st, Chicago, Cook, IL. 60 Notice in the Southtown Economist 4-2-1939 of the sale of the property for $4865. She's listed as Tessie A. Nettleton.

Residence, 15 Apr 1940, 9051 S. Racine, Chicago, Cook, IL. 6 Living here are Elizabeth as head; daughter Claribelle "Maroney", son John "Maroney", "Sessie" Maroney, and Clarence Nettleton.

Occupation: Clerk, Retail Store, 15 Apr 1940, Chicago, Cook , IL, USA. 6

Residence, 1944, 9051 S. Racine, Chicago, Cook, IL. 12,31 Living in this home at the same time were Tessie and son Ned (Clarence), sister Claire, her mother, and John Viskocil Moroney. Tessie and her son shared the back bedroom. (Ned was off to college most of the time.) They maybe lived here from 1939 through at least 1944.

Occupation: Director of Personnel, Sears & Co., State Street Store: Chicago, Cook , IL, USA. 38 Belle Radcliffe says Tessie worked on the second floor, women's fur coats, dresses, and became CEO of the ready-to-wear area. She was also director of personnel

Travel: Sailed from NY to LeHavre, France, 5 Aug 1953. 133 Travelled with wife "Teresa" Pijon. Louis was 61, Teresa was 53. Planned to be gone 10 weeks. Sailed on the Ile De France, cabin class.

Residence, 5 Aug 1953, 1215 W. 90th St., Chicago, Cook, IL. 134

Residence, 22 Sep 1954, 1215 W. 90th St., Chicago, Cook, IL. 60 This is the place I remember we used to go for holiday dinners and to just visit. It was a brownstone walkup. The bathroom smelled of gardenias. It was a fun but small place. There was one bedroom (that I recall), and the closet was stacked with boxes of photographic slides. There was a living, dining, kitchen, bedroom, and bath. There was a fire escape and I remember Mom telling me that they used to sleep out there on hot summer nights. We wouldn't all fit in the dining room so we always ate in the living room. When she retired and Lou had passed on, she gave away most everything she owned and moved to Florida. She was the first to move, and Aunt Claire followed a few years later.

Residence, Abt 1968, 880 Mandalay Shores, Clearwater Beach, Florida. 1 Tessie retired here in 1968. Her 3rd floor apt. faced the street.

Death. See photo in photo box of death certificate.
