Note to self: There was a Thomas Greathead, age 55 in 8-1854 (b. 1799) who was written about in the London Express on 8-7-1854 (and the Morning Chronicle 8-9-1854) for having helped himself to $ belonging to a principal business creditor, Mr. Webb. He'd been a pillar of the community prior to having been caught -- he'd been church warden, overseer, guardian, surveyor of highways, and was registrar of deaths, births, and marriages for the Lambeth district when he was caught. He owned a cheese shop at 58 Mount Street, Lambeth. He was found guilty but because he had previously been a man of good character, they gave him a sentence of common jail for one month.
