According to the 1920 census, he was a switchman on the railroad .
George & his wife had a son who died in infancy or as a small child. He died in the early 60s perhaps. (source: Earl & Marilynn Mette's email of 3-27-2008)

He and his first wife were divorced. At some time he & his second wife decided to move to CA. Eventually he left that wife because he said she was trying to poison him. He moved back to IL and lived in Worth with his sister Leona Elliott. Earl Jr. thought George was a very nice man, always liked him.

George was born with the help of the same midwife as William Mette was -- Mary Boehm who at this time was living at 2575 Emerald Ave.

On his WWII draft registration, he listed his father as the one who would always know his address. His telephone # at that time was Lafayette 4542.
