John Mette, 24 years old, 4023 South Rockwell street, an employe of the Chicago park district, stopped in Jackson park yesterday to pick up a squirrel that was lying on the ground. Mette believed the animal was either sick or injured, but it was only asleep. Resenting being handled, it bit Mette on the right hand and hurriedly climbed into a tree. Mette's injury was treated at the Illinois Central hospital.
