|Thomas M. Turner
(Abt 1875-Bef 1900)
Lived in Chicago. Aunt Sally Packard said it was he who carried the dining room chairs through the great Chicago fire in 1871. I remember the story being told this way: he carried them on his back and walked into Lake Michigan with them over his head to avoid the flames & protect his property. They were beautiful chairs that Grandma Alice had and Aunt Sally, I believe, now has.
